I'm in Washington DC Trick!

I'm in Washington DC with the lovely miss Corena Howe. We just got done going for a run at her house near Dulles, Virgina. She lives right next to a very famous river that starts with a P... (the name is escaping me at the moment). We went on an approximately 6 mile long trail and at the half way mark there are these amazing waterfalls. All you see is rocks everywhere with water slicing through. It looks like it used to be all solid rock/canyon at one point, but water came through and carved out some really dramatic/beautiful waterfalls.

I didn't bring my camera for the run, but I am going back tomorrow to make sure that I get some awesome pictures! Also, I will ask Corena the name of the river. I just know it starts with a P...

When I arrived in Baltimore yesterday, it was 90 degrees. And I had to take public transportation to get out to Corena. See, Corena lives in Virginia near the Dulles airport - which is about an hour and a half away from BWI by car. I could have chosen to fly into any of the DC airports no problem - they all costed the same and all - but I chose to fly into a completely different state (Maryland) and chose to fly into the airport farthest away from her. When searching for a flight, I simply selected the search feature "WAS - all airports". It didn't really occur to me to maybe ask Corena which airport was closest to her.

But anyway, it turned out pretty cool because that meant that I had to take public transportation. And that was a bit of a culture shock. I was the only white person traveling. For the first time in my life, I was in the minority. That was really entertaining. And I got to talk to some really cool people.

Then, I met up with Corena. She got lost finding me. And then we got even more super lost on the way back to her house. She calls it Cassie karma and swears that she never actually gets lost. Which is true. She is way better at directions than I am.

I had a salad for dinner which was just incredible because it was the first healthy thing I had eaten in like two days. My work at SubmitNet hosted a going away pizza party for me, and I brought in doughnuts for breakfast for the team, and on top of that my Mom had made these to die-for peanut butter cookies. All of the food was so amazing, but it was a lot of sugar and grease to pack into two or so days. So finally getting a salad last night was heavenly.

And I would totally upload pictures right now, but somehow I can't figure out how to do it. I'm going to have to bug Corena, the tech queen of anything related to technology, in order to find out how to do that. So no pictures for now :(

xoxoxo and bisous, Cassie
